Semi- Porcelain, slip-casting, fired at 1240ºC.
"OPerspective-Wall piece no.1" is a recent addition to the collection of wall artworks created using the slip-casting technique. It involved the use of 36 different models and the casting of 121 units. When observed from a frontal distance of 2 meters, the units were thoughtfully arranged along perspective lines, ensuring that only their front faces remain visible. The primary objective was to achieve a 3D artwork that mimics the appearance of a 2D painting.
In reality, each unit possesses a three-dimensional form, and the white background allows the presence of shadows and shading, offering tangible evidence of their depth. However, depending on the position, angle, and number of light sources, the interplay of shadows and shading can change and interact, leading to intriguing visual complexities. Additionally, the gradual darkening of tones towards the edges contributes to a pronounced sense of curvature.
Despite the absence of physical connections, our minds effortlessly perceive the lines on the units as interconnected circular shapes. This perceptual illusion is enhanced by the viewer's perspective and the play of lighting conditions, giving rise to an array of captivating visual effects that breathe life into the artwork.
