Shirley Foote
I trained at the West of England Academy (now the UWE) in the 50's.

I worked in ceramics for over 20yrs, before deciding in 1993 to paint fulltime. I wanted to say things that were not possilbe with the medium of clay. Growing up in the Wiltshire countryside, on the edge of Salisbury plain has given me a deep love of open wild sometimes solitary places, which has influenced my work. I use landscape as a reference point only, then start pushing the paint around and let things happen.

I have shown in numerous galleries throughout the country including:

Badcocks, Newlyn - mixed shows, two person show
Goldfish Gallery, Penzance - mixed and solo show
Penhaven Gallery - two solo shows, mixed shows
Plumbline Gallery - mixed shows
Affordable Art Fair, Battersea and Bristol - 1994-2010

At the moment I show mainly in the West Country concentrating on solo shows approximately every two years.
