Rob Pittam: Recent Paintings

4 - 31 July 2026
Rob Pittam studied art and illustration at Rugby College, Swindon College and Kingston upon Thames University. He has exhibited in Cornwall, the Cotswolds, Bath and London, and his works are held in private collections in the United States, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Scotland and the Shetland Islands.

The works of still life painter Rob Pittam are inspired by the way in which Cornwall's cool north light sculpts everyday forms. Playing with light and dark in the Dutch tradition, he brings a stillness and alluring intensity to his carefully arranged subjects, combining the contrasting influences of his favourite artists, Johannes Vermeer and American realist Edward Hopper.

His subjects include the simple objects of culinary domesticity, from fruit to silver spoons and particularly fish, whose perfectly curved, patterned shapes contrast the dulled surfaces of wood and cloth with their reflection of silvery light.
