Taking the dog on one of our regular walks, I am astounded to see how the landscape here has altered in the couple of weeks since Storm Goretti. Two giant Scots Pines, behemoths of the tree world, have fallen and been cleared away, leaving Reservoir Cottage exposed and altering the landscape completely. One lonely tree remains, defiant but vulnerable. I hope it survives the next winter.
