Florence makes jewellery with stories. The genesis of a piece can be traced to a pairing of unusual materials, the revival of an ancient shape or an experiment with form. She strives to create jewellery that can function independently as an objet d'art as well as be a natural extension of the body.
Her use of recycled metals is intended to produce jewellery with a generous tactility and weight to it whilst still being optimal for daily wear. With the latter in mind her work often tries to balance both softness with a more striking impression.
For Florence, jewellery should tie seamlessly with, and be as unique as, the wearer it adorns
She studied History of Art at the University of Oxford with an interest in material culture, completed internships across three fine jewellery ateliers in Copenhagen and now continues her practice in Devon. Her current interests are incorporating more theatrical elements to craft pieces with a distinctive mood and playfulness.
