Matthew Chambers - Concentricity
13th August to 3rd October 2016

Matthew Chambers - Concentricity Matthew Chambers is a graduate of the Royal College of Art, and his intriguingly complex geometric stoneware combines traditional processes with a love of constructivist art, drawing influence from the work of Barbara Hepworth, Bridget Riley and the sculptural paintings of Mondrian. Constructed on the wheel from individual layers of pre-coloured clay, each piece comes into being organically through experiment of form. This new collection sees the further development of his highly distinctive work, pushing the boundaries of complexity of structure and depth of form, and extending his use of internal colour from a typically earthy palette into greens, greys, blues, yellows and deep rust reds.
