Beatrice Goodden | Pink Moon Over Bamaluz

Beatrice Goodden studied Fine Art at the Slade School of Art in London before moving to Cornwall. She specialises in botanical etching and watercolour painting, inspired by her travels in Australia, the USA and Asia, and time spent walking Cornwall’s cliffs and beaches. Her life on the Atlantic coast around St Ives has increasingly shifted her focus away from plants of the earth to those of the ocean, particularly the abundance of varied and beautiful seaweeds washed up at the water’s edge by storms and spring tides.

“There is always a sense of the unexpected, and then the joyful, spontaneous response to capturing in paint the spirit of that moment. Playful humour accompanies the fun of adding their common and Latin names to the colourful fragments or perfect specimens that present themselves. Their beautiful, flowing, floating shapes transport one into a forgotten childlike sense of marvel and wonder”.

These new works were created during the spring and summer of 2020, when the world was in lockdown and daily walks gave us all a new appreciation for time spent in nature. Beatrice has exhibited her paintings and limited-edition etchings internationally, and her work is held in numerous private collections.
