Emma Jeffryes | By the Sea

These paintings by Emma Jeffryes combine inspirations from the past year into one collection, exploring how our relationship with the sea has shaped the very nature of our coastline. As always, St. Ives figures strongly, beginning with Emma’s first artwork of the year, titled January Sea, painted on Porthmeor Beach on a bitter January day. Also included are works from her ongoing exploration of the South West Coast Path, and paintings made during a week’s residency in Falmouth in August 2023, which depict the lives of Falmouth’s sea-going folk, and vessels from the Tall Ships Regatta holding fast against the unexpected arrival of Storm Betty.
