I walk this route regularly with the dog, up the Towednack Road, then either round the reservoir or the lower slopes of Rosewall Hill. Today we’re walking on up the lane, in bright sunlight on a winter’s day – always a bonus at this time of year. I marvel at the steep hedgerows and Cornish hedges, still full of colour even in midwinter when the sun catches them. A dark tree stands silhouetted against the sky, naked and proud.
