Leigh Davies: New Works on Paper / Smaller Paintings

29 November - 19 December 2025
Overview

A displey of recent works on paper and smaller paintings showing in our upstairs Gallery 1, as part of this year's Winter Exhibition, which also includes works by Rebecca Polyblank, Susan Bleakley and others.

Leigh Davis was born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire and studied silversmithing and jewellery in Birmingham between 1995 and 1997 before completing a combined degree in ceramics, woods, metals, and plastics at the University of Wolverhampton.

Deeply inspired by sculptural form, Leigh Davis creates bold, abstract paintings informed by landscape and geology. Working mainly in oil from his walled garden studio in Staffordshire, he draws inspiration from the coastlines and harbour scenes of Cornwall; capturing the changing rhythms of nature and place and translating them into his rich textures and deep palette. Davis has been exhibiting widely since 2012 with his work being held in numerous private collections nationwide and internationally.
