"I came from Japan to study ceramics in the UK. In 2007, I graduated from the University of Brighton, BA(hons) Wood, Metals, Ceramics and Plastics. lineline Returning to education, as an international mature student, has given me the opportunity to consider my future, however my time and place are limited, as I will return to my country someday. My work is concerned with this sense of limitation. I have focused on the landscapes of the South Downs in East Sussex where I am now living. When I look at this landscape, I usually think about how long I will be able to stay here and what I will do in the future. It makes me more aware of myself and heightens my sensibilities.lineline My current works are thrown and moulded porcelain bowls, teapots and tea bowls, which forms and surfaces are inspired by my impressions of the landscapes. The many different glazes are to illustrate the various seasons. Moreover I think porcelain itself is a medium which expresses a cultural mix.lineline My pieces represent the four seasons in the landscape of the South Downs and stand for my position in this country.linelineline My pieces represent the four seasons in the landscape of the South Downs and stand for my position in this country.line
