Breon O'Casey - Rare Prints and Collages

This autumn, the New Craftsman Gallery presents a collection of  rare and exceptionally beautiful handmade prints and collages by St Ives artist Breon O’Casey, in association with the artist’s estate an including many special pieces from the artist's personal collection. The New Craftsman’s relationship with the artist goes back nearly 50 years, from the early1970s until his death in 2011 at the age of 82. O’Casey moved to St Ives in 1959 and became assistant to sculptor Denis Mitchell, and later Barbara Hepworth, both of whom had a significant influence on the development of his work. Working from his studio above Porthmeor Beach, throughout his lifetime he was a prolific painter, printmaker, sculptor, weaver and jewellery maker. He went on to become an important figure in 20th Century British art and is known for his use of simple motifs and geometric shapes.
