Amanda Brier
I studied Art & Design in Portsmouth for three years and specialised in ceramics during the final year. In 1997 I moved to Cornwall to start a degree in studio ceramics at Falmouth College of Art.
After graduating from college I was invited to work at The Leach Pottery, St Ives, in October 2000 alongside Trevor Corser and Joanna Wason, where I worked until November 2005, when the Leach Pottery was closed for refurbishment. The excellent experience I gained whilst working as a Leach Potter has dramatically changed my work as I was surrounded by work that both inspired and excited me, and I was able to learn skills that have been passed down through the Leach Pottery for many years.
I use stoneware and porcelain. Most of my work is in porcelain and I fire in reduction. The glazes I mostly use are, tenmoku, copper red, celadons and satin white.
