Jonathan Parnham

Jonathan Parnham My current practice involves working on location, to capture the atmosphere, light, texture, movement and sounds from each environment that I visit. En plein air works and lens-based recordings become specific resolutions in their own right and can also be translated into larger scale paintings, prints, or films, when developed further within my studio.

Literature provides a key influence within my imagery; the poetry and novels of DH Lawrence, George Mackay Brown and Zola are often inspirations when I work.

A recent trip to Iceland is presently offering rich inspiration for a new collection of paintings.
