Jack Doherty has been passionately involved with ceramics for many years exhibiting widely in the UK and abroad. His experience as an internationally renowned maker has led to his involvement in many areas such as lecturing, writing and organising events. As Chair of the Craft Potters Association, he has been at the forefront of promoting contemporary studio ceramics.
Jack is currently Lead Potter and Creative Director of the Leach Pottery in St Ives wherehe has designed a new range of soda-fired tableware.
Jack works with Porcelain, thrown on the potters wheel then carved and shaped when the clay is very soft to reflect the physicality of making and the process of firing.
Our 50th anniversary coincides with Jack's 5th year at the Leach Pottery and we are delighted to be hosting his first major show in St Ives.
Alongside Jack's work will be a extensive collection of Leach tableware.
